Job description
More about the role
Market Street is what makes us different. Our close relationships with farmers and growers mean we know exactly where our food comes from - so we can deliver great quality and proper value to our customers every single day.
Reporting directly to the Store Manager, you’ll lead our Market Street craft teams with pride. You'll bring a "sleeves rolled up" attitude to make sure our counters are fully stocked, our foodmaker credentials shine, and our shoppers get the very best service.
In this role, you’ll be on hand to:
- Put customers first: Inspire your team to deliver outstanding service, listening to customer feedback and making sure Market Street is always vibrant and well-stocked.
- Lead and develop your team: Take real ownership of shift scheduling, training, and talent conversations, giving your colleagues the confidence to succeed and grow.
- Build a supportive culture: Work alongside other Managers to lead an encouraging, performance-driven department where people work with purpose.
- Keep operations running smoothly: Plan resources thoroughly, manage department budgets, and build strong relationships with other operating teams across the store.
We value your hard work and commitment, and in return, we provide:
- Generous holiday entitlement
- Discretionary bonus scheme
- 15% discount in our supermarkets and convenience stores from the day you join us
- Additional 10% discount card for a friend or family member
- Genuine career progression and development opportunities - read more about our Leadership School here
- Subsidised in-store cafe or shop floor ranges
- Free parking
- Competitive pension and life assurance
- Healthcare / Wellbeing benefits including Aviva Digital GP
- 'MyPerks' with discounts at high street shops, cinemas and gyms, and lots more
- Optional payroll charity donations
- A range of family-friendly policies including 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave along with neonatal and fertility leave
More about you
Whether your background is in retail, hospitality, leisure, or travel, if you care about quality food and love delivering great service, you'll fit right in with us.
- Has experience leading, supporting, and bringing out the best in a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Is a natural communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge, helping others succeed, and keeping everyone in the loop.
- Builds strong, positive working relationships across the whole store team, staying adaptable and open to new ways of doing things.
- Listens attentively to both customers and colleagues, acting on feedback to make things better every shift.
- Leads and steps up with confidence: Confidently steps in as Manager in Charge, running shifts smoothly, handling daily priorities with ease, and keeping our essential food safety standards spot-on.
Starting as a Bradford market stall, we are proud to be the Yorkshire retailer now serving over 11 million customers nationwide each week. We’re unique: both foodmakers and shopkeepers, processing our own fresh produce and preparing more food in-store than any other supermarket.
We offer real opportunities to build your career across our stores, sites, and support teams. We’re a down-to-earth team that values hard work, reliability, and great customer service. If you’re friendly, dependable, and ready to get stuck in, there’s always More to Morrisons for you.
