Job description

Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for co‑creators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.

As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing.

That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.

We're looking for an experienced Digital Trading Manager to lead the online trading strategy across our retail eCommerce channels, driving sales growth, margin performance and customer experience improvements. Reporting into the Group Head of eCommerce, you'll take ownership of online commercial performance, using data, customer insight and market trends to identify opportunities and deliver measurable results.

Working closely with teams across Digital, Finance, Marketing, Trading and Operations, you'll play a key role in shaping and optimising the online customer journey while delivering against ambitious commercial targets

  • Own and deliver the digital trading strategy, driving online sales, profitability, conversion and customer engagement whilst identifying opportunities for continuous commercial growth.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Digital Trading professionals, creating a high-performing culture and ensuring delivery against key business and customer KPIs.
  • Analyse trading performance, customer behaviour and market trends to make data-led decisions, optimise the customer journey and maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Digital, Marketing, Finance and Operations to influence strategy, deliver trading initiatives and achieve business objectives.
  • Manage forecasting, budgeting and promotional planning, ensuring trading activity is effectively executed, measured and aligned to wider commercial goals.

  • An experienced Digital Trading or eCommerce leader with a proven track record of delivering commercial growth and owning online trading performance within a fast-paced retail environment.
  • A commercially minded people manager who can inspire, develop and lead teams whilst building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
  • Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret trading data, customer insights and market trends to identify opportunities and influence strategic decision making.
  • Experienced in budgeting, forecasting and performance management, with a strong understanding of the key drivers behind online sales, margin and conversion.
  • Proactive, ambitious and customer-focused, with a passion for digital innovation, continuous improvement and delivering exceptional online experiences.

Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, car allowance, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
  • We offer hybrid working in our Support Centre, you will be based at our Support Centre 3 days a week with an optional 2 days working from home.
  • You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
  • Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.
