Job description

We're looking for a Developer to join our eCommerce Technical Enablers team, based from the NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire!

At NEXT, our online ordering platforms serve millions of customers every day. Behind every seamless order is a complex technical ecosystem, and we are looking for a Developer to join our eCommerce Tech Enablers team to help us refresh, enhance, and streamline these foundational platforms.

This role sits within a collaborative cross-functional team across our Leicester and Doncaster locations, with hybrid working options. You will work alongside developers, testers, and key business stakeholders to modernize legacy application frameworks, reduce operational risk, and improve the developer experience across NEXT.

  • Modernise and Migrate Systems: Upgrade legacy frameworks and underpinning processes to maintain high performance and reliability across large-scale platforms.
  • Analyse Requirements and Solution Design: Turn complex business needs into technical solutions, producing clear migration proposals and structured requirement analyses.
  • Bridge Business and Tech: Liaise directly with non-technical stakeholders, development teams, and testers to align technical delivery with business goals.
  • Oversee Technical Quality: Monitor project progress, manage risks proactively, and maintain robust software engineering standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and Share Knowledge: Guide junior team members on best practices, document migration workflows, and hand over optimised processes to internal teams.

  • Microsoft Stack Expertise: Strong experience with C#, .NET, SQL, WCF Services, Web APIs, and SSIS package management.
  • Front-End Foundation: Practical experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, and Bootstrap for responsive web applications.
  • Platform and Tool Fluency: Practical understanding of Windows, IIS environments, and modern source control tools like Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
  • Agile Delivery: Solid grasp of Agile software development lifecycles with the confidence to support and guide mixed-discipline teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A self-starter approach with strong analytical skills to dissect complex technical challenges and learn new technologies.
  • Clear Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust, manage expectations, and translate technical concepts effortlessly for business partners.

Discover how you can shape the future of our eCommerce platforms and build a career with space to grow - apply now.
