We're looking for a Computer Operations Analyst to join our Computer Services team, based from the NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire!
Please note: This role operates on a 4 on 4 off 12-hour shift rota (days, with some night shift requirements) working 38.5 hours per week.
As a Computer Operations Analyst at NEXT, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping our business moving smoothly 24/7. Working within a close-knit monitoring team of 13, you’ll be responsible for the health and performance of our core IT infrastructure - ensuring our websites, retail stores, warehouses, and key third-party integrations stay online and perform flawlessly.
Technology at NEXT is forever evolving, and you’ll have the support, training, and freedom to use your initiative to resolve issues quickly and drive meaningful improvements across our systems.
- 24/7 System Monitoring: Monitor core systems and infrastructure across both cloud (Microsoft Azure) and on-premises environments.
- Operational Execution: Execute day-to-day operational tasks, batch jobs, and system maintenance accurately, on time, and strictly in line with operating procedures.
- Server Administration: Perform server administration tasks, including App Pool resets, patching, and system troubleshooting across Windows Server, Mainframe, VMware, Akamai, and Citrix NetScaler platforms.
- Incident Management: Manage, log, and resolve incidents using ITSM tools like ServiceNow, upholding standard ITIL operational practices.
- Critical Decision-Making: Stand firm and make confident operational decisions during high-pressure moments (such as evaluating P1 incidents or initiating callouts).
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with wider tech teams to ensure smooth rollouts, deployments, and seamless business operations.
- Operational Flexibility: Adjust shift patterns or remain available to support major system outages, critical rollouts, and ongoing business continuity.
- Technical Expertise: Solid technical exposure across IT Service Operations, server administration, and modern monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Zabbix, or Grafana.
- Scripting & Server Knowledge: Practical understanding of PowerShell alongside foundational knowledge of Windows Server environments (Azure or on-premises).
- Communication: Clear, confident communication skills in written and spoken English to liaise effectively with team members and key stakeholders.
- Poise Under Pressure: Strong decision-making skills and the confidence to make sound judgements during critical system events.
- Organisation & Prioritisation: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple incidents in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive Mindset: A results-driven approach with a proactive attitude and a genuine passion for learning new technologies.
- Teamwork & Flexibility: A supportive, friendly approach to working in a team, along with the flexibility required to support shift rotation and major system rollouts.
